Extra Income

November 16th, 2012 at 02:00 pm

Well I'm trying to come up with ideas now so that I can have extra income later. I'm more than willing to sell some of my items. I'm not sure how I'll sell them yet.

My ultimate goal is buy a tv. After talking with some people the best idea is to buy the tv that i actually want NOW instead of upgrading from time to time. I'll save more money that way.

That's why I'm doing little things here to have enough cash to pay for half of it. That's my goal. Whatever money I earn here will be the 50% that I'll need to pay for the tv. So if I earn $500 then I can get a $1000 tv max. Unfortunately the ones that I've been looking at are about $800-$1500. But that only means that I'll either have enough to pay for it cash
(I can actually do that right now) or pay half of it upfront.

BTW, I do NOT have a television. AT. ALL. I want a 3D Smart LCD TV with WIFI. I'm not sure how big. I'm thinkin 50" though. That way whenever I upgrade where I live (such as moving to a house) I won't feel the need to get a bigger tv. Also I'm a gamer (no I don't have any systems right now) so when I save the money to buy a system I won't feel the need to get a bigger tv.

All and all I just want to buy a tv once and be DONE with it for a few years at LEAST.

I need to get both my tablets fixed (yes, I have two. one stopped working while overseas so i bought another.) So I'm going to get both fixed (one just has a cracked screen) and sell the smaller one. I only used it for three days before it stopped working.

That'll help some with of my savings for things that I want. My new "thing" is to save money for whatever item that I want.

So first thing is a sweet tv. Approximately $1500. I'll count up my monies saved here in about a week or two so that I can have a middle point. If I save more than I need then I'll just put that towards the next thing.

I do need to have a christmas fund. I'd like to have enough to give my two older daughters, my son-in-law, my granddaughter and my new grandchild that'll be here in May 2013-ish. Also I'd like to get my parents and my youngest brother and my sister-in-law presents also. I just want to get my grandchild a present for christmas this year. So I'll be shopping online for her and my kids. I plan on buying them something soon so that it'll get there before the middle of december.

Are you allowed to buy things on the local market? Because I think some small gifts from Afghanistan would speak very genuinely of your love for your children, their spouses, the coming grandchild, your parents, and brother. I have from Afghanistan a pair of earrings and a pashmina. They cost little there, and were great to receive. A tea mixed with cardamom and whatever other spices are used in the local chai would be authentic, a good gift for adults. Bangle bracelets could be an option. Look at any jewelry with lapsis lazuli (the intensely blue stone) since Afghanistan has been the world source for it since--forever.

Yes, I'm going to bring home some gifts but I'm also gonna buy something for christmas. My eldest can't wear regular jewelry so I don't get her anyone although my youngest loves jewelry. I have an afghan bowl for my eldest. I have to figure out what to get my granddaughter tho. Online christmas shopping will be easier especially with "black friday" coming up.

On the TV front, have you checked out the brand Vizio? We've had a 60 inch screen Vizio for about 4 years now and it was much less expensive than any of the major name brands out there, but there is absolutely no difference in quality. In fact, I think the Vizio is slightly better.

If you're going to be doing a good bit more of moving, do you really want a 50" tv? It just seems to me that it'd be a hassle to move. (This is coming from a former pastor's daughter who moved *a lot*)

Yes, I've actually looked at several Vizio's. I may go with one of them but I still haven't made my final decision. I have a lot of time before I do. I want quality so therefore it doesn't matter what brand I get.

I more than likely am going to be moving a lot, and I actually HAVE moved a lot in the past. My ex had a 40" tv, and it was NOT a flat screen. So it'll actually be easier with a flat screen because it's lighter.

Price and quality are not necessarily linked anymore. Nearly all electronics have some components made in China or sub-contracted to Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Indonesia or wherever there are no rules.

I suggest comparing the warranties as the best long term protection after deciding which brand has the capability of supporting gaming.

yes, i'm a comparative shopper and i shop for what i want, then i shop for the prices.

i also coupone. i've gone to a store and bought $147 worth of groceries and only paid $71.

i've never shopped prices 1st. that's always been secondary.
