April 13th, 2014 at 03:30 pm

I'm considering changing my number for personal reasons. How what were the cons socially that was associated with this. I've had my number for a LONG time.

Day 1 Declutter

April 10th, 2014 at 01:44 am

Day one declutter mission: HOARD NO MORE! underway!

I've started small and will work my way through. It seems to just be moving from one area to the next but it's actually moving to where it needs to go in order to be organized later.

BEFORE:

This is my ottoman and this will be a two part element. Why? It actually has storage within which is why I bought it in the first place. Hehehe. Double edged sword.

AFTER:

It even smells lemon fresh from the Clorox wipes!

So tomorrow I'm going to tackle the inside .

About that Credit Card You're Paying Off...

April 9th, 2014 at 10:22 pm

I'm in the process of paying of a credit card. I was paying the minimum because I've been snowballing another account.

The card was shredded earlier last year so I haven't been using it.

Statement came in today and I looked at it because I know that it should be paid off in the next few months.

Imagine my surprise when I opened it up and saw about $1000 of charges!

So know I have to call the credit card company. I've never had this issue before so I'm not sure how this is going to pan out...

My advice to you: Check your statements every month even if you have shredded the card and no longer using it! And don't forget to DEACTIVATE it so that it can't be used!

2 years left!

April 9th, 2014 at 02:18 am

I have only two years left of paying alimony! YAY ME!!!

I've already been paying for four years and the time is coming up for that to end. I AM EXCITED!

WHOOHOO!!

Declutter Challenge

April 8th, 2014 at 01:40 am

So I was looking at another bloggers' post. She's doing an April challenge of de-cluttering.(http://ceejay74.savingadvice.com/2014/04/01/april-declutterorganize-challenge-want-t_108063/).

I've decided to accept the challenge since I'm moving in several months so this is great timing on her part!

Now I've noticed what she's been doing in regards to BEFORE/AFTER pictures. So I will apologize in advance for the mess of my place. Not only do I have a LOT of military gear but I'm so tired that I don't make time to put stuff up.

So the fun begins tomorrow. Main reason being that tomorrow I get to sleep in until 0730. Yes, I said sleep in until that time. HAHAHAHA I'm normally up at about 0400. So this is a special treat during the work week.

I'm trying to decide where to start but I'm looking to my right and already know where I'm going to being. UGH! I don't believe that I'll actually clean it up but I'm hoping to make a dent.

We'll see...

My only issue with this challenge is this. Once I'm organizing I can be EXTREMELY organized. So we'll see how frustrated I get.

Moving Again

April 8th, 2014 at 01:16 am

I'm moving... again... I'm losing my current roommate and will be needing a new one. In fact two!

I'm moving to a 3bdrm/2bth apartment and will be charging $500 for each roommate but it's all inclusive. Meaning cable (no HBO, Showtime, Starz, Max), water, electricity and internet.

I'm moving in less than 4 months but my question is this.

Should I start packing little by little now? Such as purchase a few boxes if I can't find any for free and start packing here and there? Or just wait until a week before I move?

hmmmm...

Paying Weekly vs Monthly

April 7th, 2014 at 02:53 am

I've been paying certain bills monthly and others weekly.

Example:
Timeshare: $85.07/mo balance = $4,855.55
currently I'm on track to pay this off in 7 years. No sooner, no later. Next payment is due on the 27th Apr.

car loan: $194.33/mo. I pay weekly instead $48.58. Looking at the account I am, at this moment the next payment is due 19th Jun.

So instead of it being paid off in Sep 2017 it looks as if it'll be paid off by Jan 2017.

I think it's better to pay something off weekly instead of monthly whenever possible.

Annnnd Starting Again

April 6th, 2014 at 06:36 pm

So I'm starting over again it feels like. Things happen an my savings have been depleted. If anything I may need to use my retirement funds if push comes to shove but that is only in a dire situation such as can't pay rent until I move (I'll be moving in several months. I've found a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment for about $1000/mo. I'll get 2 other roommates and it takes 10 minutes off of my commute.

My window for re-enlistment comes up in October so I'm wanting to change my MOS and try to get Korea in my contract. Which in the long run will save me money.

So in the meantime I haven't been following my budget because things come up but as long as I keep trying then it means that I'll eventually get to where I'm wanting to go.
