New Digs

I moved into my new apartment earlier this month. To me it's incredibly small so I have to be almost OCD-ish about organization. Fortunately my bed and couch (it comes furnished) are high enough so that I can put things underneath them.

I've also just went grocery shopping so that I can take my food with me for lunch and whatnot. I'll get organized sooner or later but it seems to be taking a long time. I want everything done by the end of this month.

My parents gave me a small digital TV so I don't have a need to purchase one anytime soon. It just depends on how long this one lasts.

I'm going to have a facility next week to have them file my taxes for me. And there are still other things that I need to do this month but I knew that would happen. Clothes and all kinds of other things... (I didn't have any clothes when I left for basic training in 2011 since I had lost so much weight and haven't really had an opportunity to purchase any when I had graduated before my deployment.

Bought a small calendar so that I can keep up with my bills/appointments/events instead of always glancing in my financial software.

I'll keep ya'll informed but it's been a busy time...

    Moving is so stressful! Something like 4th most stressful of life's challenges. It means finding a place for everything and getting everything into it's place based on your lifestyle and space constrictions. It's so important to have a system to handle paperwork which has the ability to create clutter in spite of the expectation of a 'paperless' society.

    I do international contracts and know how difficult it is to live in tiny apartments. I've found it helpful to create 'zones' so that all the take-it lunch gear is in one spot, pots in the drawer under the oven & tableware as close to the table as practical. I hope I'm not OCD but I found it useful to even designate 'zones' in the unfamiliar fridge so milk, juice and water were in the coldest spots, lunch makings containerized, and leftovers in what was suposed to be the meat tray.

    Most important, enjoy your new digs.

    It must feel good to be in your own, although tiny, apartment. What area of the country are you living in, if you don't mind my asking?

    Lots to do to set up housekeeping! If you need more out of the way storage, keep an eye out for a set of bedrisers that can give you an extra 4-6 inches under your bed....May you find joy in feathering your nest. Wink

    the bed is approximately 2ft off the ground at least. I can pack my Army duffel bags on top of each other and still have at least 6 inches of clearance... I actually need a step to get in and out of the bed... I'm even using space under the desk (because they didn't give me a chair FOR the desk...) as well as the space under the sofa and regular chair. I even found space beside the stackable washer/dryer... Hopefully I can get everything figured out. =D
