Moving to a New Apartment

July 18th, 2013 at 06:08 pm

Last month I made plans to move into a new apartment next month. I'm going from a one-bedroom to a two-bedroom.

(I'm literally moving across the walkway at my apartments... LOL)

This will mean less rent but more towards debt freedom!

We're very excited! Today we looked at paint colors because we've decided to paint the walls. Only one wall in each room though (living room, and both bedrooms). This way they is some color without being overwhelmed with trying to paint the whole apartment...

We'll also be putting in ceiling fans which we'll take with us because we won't be compensated if we leave them when we leave the apartment... Go figure...

The fans will cost us $80 each and the paint and supplies will cost $60 all together. Also I have a 10% off coupon at Lowe's which I need to find... UGH!

But at least we've decided on our paint colors today which actually helps a lot. Less pressure to do now instead of days before the move.

I'm hoping that I can gather how much money I'd need to pay if all my student loans were due right now (monthly) and apply it to the debt. (paying the current due minimums and putting the "left over" towards the chosen snowball debt)

I'm looking forward to this and so is my roomie. WHOOHOO!!

Hope you find your coupon for Lowe's by the time you need it. While the move is within the complex, it's a good idea to use the job of pack-up to de-clutter and release the stuff you no longer need, use, love or that serves you. Remember that about 80% of retained paperwork is never needed or looked at again. The trick is to be able to find the 20% that you need, when you need it. Moving is a terrific opportunity to purge excess, how many is enough? The rule is 15 hangers for each foot of closet rod to keep things in good condition and visible.

exactly snafu! but I need to hang on to the majority of my military paperwork. that's going to be the biggest amount... I have a notebook in which i'm trying to organize everything into so that it won't be all over the place. I've already lost a certificate between Afghanistan and here and i'm hopin that during this move i'll be able to find it Frown

You're gaining a bedroom AND reducing rent? In the same building?

Yeah, i was wondering how that worked....paying less rent for a 2 bedroom compared to the 1 bedroom you're in now.

haha, I have a single bedroom right now and i'm going to a two bedroom. i'm gonna have a roommate hence the reduction in rent. technically it's $1149/mo but split by two people it's $574.50/mo =D the one bedroom was $779/mo by itself

I found my Lowe's coupon! i'm gonna put that in a safe place until it's time lol =P
